Two Bad Ants
This mysterious tale follows two bad ants on their journey through the "forest" in search of the "sea of crystals".
*Although the pictures in a Van Allsburg book are phenomenal, for this activity, you will not use the pictures. Instead, you will read descriptions of various household objects and see if students can infer what the object is.
~After the ants are scooped by a silver shovel and poured into a bitter, brown boiling liquid, this is the quote that follows, "Then the lake tilted and began to empty into a cave. The ants could hear the rushing water and felt themselves pulled towards the pitch black hole. Suddenly the cave disappeared and the lake became calm. The ants swam to the shore and found that the lake had steep sides." Students can fill out a chart like this one here.
